[HCG Diet 5 Lessons Learned] Lesson Learned #3: This Sweetener Will Make You B-Slap Sugar

Continuing my HCG Diet Lesson Learned #3…

Long after my HCG journey was over, I still put a little stevia in my water every day. And I still drink about a gallon and a half water. Every day.

My HCG Journey taught me two important lessons:

  1. The importance of hydration (drinking enough water)
  2. Just how sugar and artificial sweeteners are bad, bad, bad for you

See, one reason you get hungry is your taste buds want something satisfying and that little bit of stevia in my water helps you curb your hunger and get the taste of sweetness.

Thus, keeping your blood sugar levels normalized.

Which means when you get hungry, the hunger is  not the ravenous beast that sneaks up on you and you eat everything in sight that you shouldn’t. Keeping your blood sugar stabilized helps YOU be in control. Nice, eh?

See, having a glass of water when you first feel the signs of hunger gives your body encouragement to grab and burn energy from your stored fat.

Hunger pangs don’t come from the stomach but from the brain. That “growling noise” is just the movement of digestive gases and juices in your small intestines – not your “stomach” at all.

But when low blood sugar hits, that sends a signal to your hypothalamus (in your brainstem which is just below your brain) and that’s what largely regulates your eating behavior.

When your blood sugar gets low, that signals your brain (hypothalamus) it’s time to eat.

Stevia is such an elegant addition to any phase of your life: Before, During or After your HCG Journey.

It contains no calories. Think about that for a moment. All the benefits of what you’re looking for and sugar, and none of the side effects.

And you will not gain weight from using too much stevia. Unlike sugar. And stevia’s all-natural it won’t poison you like Splenda and a lot of other artificial sweeteners.

Hand-In-Hand With Your HCG Diet

And if all the above weren’t enough, stevia also reduces cravings for sweets and fatty foods. Preliminary research indicates that its use may reset the hunger mechanism that makes folks eat too much in the first place.

Now I have a particular brand of stevia that I like. And I tested all the stevias out there. One of the side effects of a lot of the stevias is that they leave some weird after tasting in your mouth.

So after much experimenting and spending a lot of money trying out various brands, I found one (and only one to date) that didn’t leave that weird after-taste in my mouth. These days I only order Stevia made by one company – Nu Naturals.

Their stevia to have no aftertaste or anything like that. It’s my favorite kind. And we order it in bulk. We haven’t had sugar house since I went on the HCG Diet over seven years ago. (or it could be longer depending on when you read this).

Now that’s just the plain stevia. And btw, don’t buy direct from them. You can get better prices for exactly the same product at Amazon or iHerb.com.

So my three favorite flavored stevias are from a company called SweetLeaf. Oddly enough, I can’t stand their plain stevia. It’s got that weird aftertaste. However I used their rainbow of different flavors all throughout my HCG journey and I advise you to do the same.

You can make so many different flavored popsicles and ice cubes. Something the Redhead and I still do to this day.
