Yes, it’s that time of the year again! Time for HCG Diet Jingle Hell, better known as…
“Why Your HCG Diet Sucks – The Holiday Edition”
Heh… seeing a bunch of opportunistic and shameless HCG bloggers and sellers moronically pitching why you should buy their stuff to avoid cheating during the holidays, lose more weight, blah-blah-blah…
You know the routine.
Meanwhile others are advising you to use holiday meals and family dinners as “Gorge Days.” Really? Treat the time from Thanksgiving to New Years and all those family dinners and parties as one big gorgefestapooloza?
Follow that bad advice and you’ll be as big as a house by January first.
Look, bottomline? Being on any diet, let alone the HCG Diet during the holidays is a bad, bad idea.
Their HCG Diet Holiday Little White Lies
Using the holidays as an excuse to overeat (they call it “gorging”) is dangerous… and that’s Dangerous spelled S-T-U-P-I-D.
Think about it for a moment…
Why in the world would you begin your New Year weight-loss program with extra fat that’s going to take even longer to come off if you didn’t have to?
And don’t get me started on the dangerous side effects of packing on even more weight onto a body already stressed with carrying around too much weight. Think what is doing to your blood pressure, your cholesterol levels and most importantly, how much it will stress your heart which is stressed and overworked due to the extra weight it is already carrying before you packed on even more!
Yep, the HCG Diet sellers are out in full force this time of year, whooo-boy! And boy do they have it in for you as they seek to line their pockets using your ignorance.
That’s a sales tactic for pumping up their end of the year profit margins.
Let me just say this as absolutely and unequivocally as I can – you have absolutely NO business being on the HCG Diet (or any diet for that matter) during the holidays.
It’s beyond dumb for those HCG “coaches” and sellers to tell you to do this and it’s morally bankrupt for them to sell you the tools to do something you shouldn’t do in the first place.
And they should be ashamed of themselves for even trying to tell you to do this. They’re just trying to make a buck by setting you up to fail.
And when you fail, in their thinking, you’ll buy more stuff from them to solve the problem they helped you create. Nice, eh?
They try to sell you their whizbang supplements and programs so you don’t gain weight between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. BS! Eating in moderation while celebrating with friends and family is the only sure-fire way to make it work.
If they were REALLY looking out for you, they’d tell you something like this…
Look, it’s almost impossible not to cheat during the holidays.
I have pretty good discipline and I don’t know if I could do it but I’ve never had enough self-loathing to try.
But more importantly, there’s this: the more social you are? And the more family and friends you have? It becomes exponentially more impossible to be dieting without being miserable during the holidays.
Sure you can do it. It’s not that impossible. But just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should, right?
You can be in denial and deny yourself all the food while everyone else is celebrating, but what’s the point of holiday celebration if you’re living like that?
And exactly what kind of “celebrating” are you doing when you’re miserable all the time? What kind of life is that?
Now, could it hurt my HCG sales to tell you that (even though I never advise dieting during the holidays)? In the short term, maybe. But I don’t think short term. I don’t do the Short Game. I think Long Term and play the Long Game. So should you, btw.
And for the Long Term, for your life? Avoiding dieting during the holidays positions you to win the Long Game and moves you significantly further down the road of the Holy Grail of the HCG Diet: Keeping It Off For Life.
And getting you to that point is all I care about. That’s the whole reason I’m doing this instead of other things.
Keys To Your HCG Diet Success…
So that’s all what you shouldn’t do. Here’s what you should… here’s what sets you up to WIN and not fail…
There is something to be said for making low-fat versions of your favorite holiday treats. But be honest — none of your non-dieting family and friends like the taste of it and if you told yourself the truth, you probably feel like you’re denying yourself while nibbling chocolate fudge made of celery and Fage no-fat (and no-taste) yogurt.
Yes, I made that up. But you get my point, right? It’s a ridiculous parody of all these holiday low-fat/no-fat this or that.
Just stop it, already.
Hey, Life’s too short not to have some of your grandmother’s holiday fudge (that she only makes once a year). Don’t do that to yourself.
Instead, for the holidays (and the rest of the year): Do your best to eat healthfully 90% of the time, and then allow yourself the freedom to splurge a bit during the other 10%.
Rather than sucking all the fun out of all your holiday meals, pick the ones where you want to indulge, and pass up the goodies the rest of the time. You can do that. Easy-peasey.
Ultimately, the smarter course is to use the holidays to indulge a little bit more (not gorging) and then have a plan come the first of the New Year where you can take it off and get back on track. After all, the first of year is a natural time to create a new beginning for yourself.
And smart folks use the natural rhythms of this special time of the year to catapult themselves from where they are to where they want to be.
Look, most reasonable dietitians will counsel you to maintain your weight during the holidays and not try for a drastic loss.
And frankly, to attempt to jump-start a whole new slimmer you using something like the HCG Diet while smack-dab in the middle of the most indulgent season of the year is an exercise in masochism and ultimately, failure.
So go easy on yourself. Christmas is not only a time of celebration but a time of forgiveness as well. Forgive yourself.
And if you are aiming for a major weight-loss and lifestyle eating changes in January? Then be reasonable. Practice moderation during the holidays and go for the fresh start in at the beginning of the New Year, it’s just around the corner after all.
Look, most get it wrong so here’s the bottomline to take away from today’s article: It’s not about what you eat/don’t eat between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s about what you eat between New Year’s and Christmas.
Now get out there and go enjoy your holiday feasting! Eat, drink and be merry! That’s the whole damn point of Christmas, isn’t it?
Remember to Eat. Drink. Be Merry. Stay Tuned. Stay Gutless.
