Guest Post: HCG Diet’s Going Great, But I Have Questions!

My friend Kimberly (she’s very big on Facebook) wrote a long email to me and since I knew  a lot of you have similar, if not the same questions she had, I asked her if you guest post it.

That way I could answer her/your questions and I did so in the Comments below.

Take it away Kimberly…

Hi Walter!

You wrote on my blog “Let me know how I can help you real your goal, Kimberly. I’m pullin’ for ya!” So here I am asking for your advice. I am on the third day of the 500 cal part of the protocol. I gained 4.4 pounds on gorge days and am down 7 lbs making it a release of 2.6 pounds from my start weight for this round.

It’s a little less at this day compared to my last 2 rounds, but I haven’t been sleeping well either.

I guess what I’m looking for is confirmation that I’m at par and to get your advice on some products I’m using. I just want to get the most out of [Read more...]

    > Are there any supplements I can/should take? I’ve taken a b-complex, biotin, & potassium gluconate in previous rounds. I’ve continued the potassium this round but wanted to see if it is necessary.

No supps unless leg cramping comes up and in those cases then the potassium’s okay as long as it’s the gluconate version.

    > Is baking soda okay to use as a “toothpaste”?

Oh yeah. There’s no oil! So baking soda is a blessing.

I used the 43 day HCG Diet Hygiene Kits from Pharmacy Escrow in rounds 2 & 3 because I got fed-up with scrutinizing the labels of every single product and deciphering the meaning of every 25 syllable word they used.

This way, buy one kit put all the regular stuff away for a couple months and use only the stuff in the kit. Don’t have to do it this way, it’s just easier and less time-consuming (which is a BIG! deal for me).

    > P.P.S. – Oh and I thought of another question :) I used 3 ml of Colloidal Silver and 12 ml of B12. I think you may have already confirmed this in a response to someone else. I usually hold it under my tongue for 15 minutes and then wait 30 minutes before eating or drinking anything. I don’t necessarily wait 30 minutes after eating or drinking to take it, but it usually works out that way based on the times I take it. Should I change anything?

15 minutes is a long time to do that. It doesn’t help you and it doesn’t hurt you either. 5 minutes is more than enough. I suspect the 30 minute before and after thing is an influence from the homeopathic folks.

I did notice that if you take it an hour before the meal, then the HCG had a chance to work through your system and curb how much you wanted to eat at that meal.

    > What are your thoughts on “boosting” the releases with things such as Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), the California Kicker (Cayenne, water, juice of 1/2 lemon, and stevia)? Do you have any of your own that you would suggest?

I’d give you the green light on this. You’re losing weight like crazy, you’re feeling good and your hunger is mostly non-existent — so go for it girl!

That’s for the ACV. Hadn’t heard of the California Kicker (love the name) but there’s nothing there that would thwart weight loss. Just have to be sure and account that lemon as one of your fruits.

I made my ACV into an Apple soda by adding some water and stevia. Tough to drink otherwise.

Thanks Walter for answering my questions. Good to know on the timing thing and yes, the 1/2 hour before and after is a leftover mistake from using homeopathic (bad me). And, just so you know, I’m NOT so big anymore. My picture keeps shrinking!!

I’m drinking an “Apple soda” right now.

About the timing thing, I didn’t mean you in particular had that problem, I think the fact that this meme has seeped in to Rx HCG culture is a general holdover from many people. Glad you like the apple soda.

    > My picture keeps shrinking!!

I know! And I’m loving every minute of it just like you are. You are so awesome.

I have a couple more questions, this time from some friends who are interested in doing hCG but had some questions I couldn’t answer.

    1. Can you smoke while on hCG? Or will it slow down progress? (I don’t smoke so didn’t really research this myself.)

    2. Isn’t hCG what is given to women who are trying to get pregnant? Will taking it increase my chances of becoming pregnant while using it as a weight reduction tool?

I don’t smoke either. Some of the grads do and all things being equal, I didn’t see that smoking hampered their weight loss, at least physically. Psychologically, I think the issue of hastening the end of one’s life is something to be examined.

    2. As best as I understand it, this is not a common usage. HCG is produced by women who are already pregnant. For those who are having trouble ovulating, the HCG has sometimes been used to induce ovulation which can increase the chances of getting pregnant.

Hi Terry! I have a question about the stevia? I’m getting ready to order NuNaturals stevia, but there are so many choices, I am overwhelmed!! There’s “white stevia powder packets”, “white stevia powder”, “NoCarb Blend”, “clear stevia”, “alcohol free stevia”, “vanilla stevia”, “pure white stevia”, and “quick dissolve tabs”. Will any of these work? What quantity will I need for just 1 round? Thanks for your help!!

  • http://www.gutlessinseattle.com Coach Walter

When we order the NuNaturals stevia, get 3-4 of the 1 lb containers at a time. We go through about 1 lb per 1 to 1.5 months.

We haven’t had sugar in the house since throwing it out 4 years ago.

And Brandi, just so you know the first name is Walter. Last is Terry. Unless you’re on military protocol and used to addressing folks by their last name.

In which case, carry on , Sarge! ;-)

  • Kathy Christensen

    Brandi,

I have tried about 15 different types/brands of stevia. I agree whole-heartedly with Walter. I haven’t used real sugar since I found my favorite stevia options. The two I like are “NuNaturals, NuStevia, White Stevia Pure Extract, 1 lb” and “NuNaturals, Clear Stevia, 2 fl oz”. I have ordered other NuNaturals stevia, but some have fillers and I don’t like the taste. So in the powder form look for the “pure” in the description. Just my opinion.

  • Brandi Brown

    Hi Walter!

So sorry for the name mix up! I got it right now ; ) I went ahead and ordered the NuNaturals Stevia packets & the Vanilla stevia. I’ll order the 1 lb containers once I finish this batch. I’m on Phase 2/ Day 1 today and feel pretty good! I started the drops on Sunday and somehow managed to gain 5 lbs then lose 4 lbs the next day! I’ve got my meals planned out for the week and feel pretty confident I am going to finally get this weight off!!! Thank you for helping me get started!!! Oh by the way….here’s a link to my HCG blog (per your request)….http://brandibrownhcgjourney.blogspot.com/

Looking into the diet to get to my goal weight which I have not achieved–Here is a question for you that may or may not have been asked.  Here it is:  As a woman who is is of that “age” (hot flash city–you know what I mean)… I am not taking HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) due to family history of BC (breast cancer)..  As HCG is a hormone, what are or could be the ramifications of taking this hormone in that area?  Know two YOUNGER women who have had good success with HCG—I know one is a smoker–and clearly she is exchanging one bad habit (overeating) for another— I can only see an oxygen tank in her future….  I digress with that– at this point my concerns are in taking a hormone and if there are any studies for those of us ladies who are in my situation and time of life…

We’ve had pre-menopausal, menopausal and post-menopausal women in our coaching programs ranging from 45 to 79 and they’ve all done great (those that followed directions, anyway) on the HCG diet.

I’m not aware of any risks associated with HCG and being menopausal. That being said, you should ALWAYS consult with your doc before going on the HCG diet, or anything else for that matter.
