So you’re on the HCG Diet, you’re tracking your food intake, and then horror of all horrors — you’re at your last meal of the day, you’re stuffed and yet you’re shy on your daily 500 calories.
Ack!
Now, you know if you don’t eat at least those 500, you won’t lose weight the next day (not really true, but that’s the popular myth and another post for another day).
So, what do you eat more of? More meat? More crackers (heh, that was me on Round 1)? Drink more liquid?
No, no and no. You want to eat more of what was, in my childhood the most hateful, vengeful enemy…It was the bane of my existence, the ruination of nearly every meal, the enemy of every Midwestern farm boy — yes, the insidious vegetable. Especially the green ones.
Always the green ones.
My particular over-the-top Marvel super-villain arch-nemesis at most meals was — Green Beans (hisssssss….!).
They were the Doctor Octopus to my Spider-Man, the Crimson Dynamo to my Iron Man, the Doctor Doom to my Fantastic Four.
You get the idea.
In fact, the story is somewhat legendary in my family of how during my senior year, I got so fed up (no pun intended) with being made to eat green beans all the time, (did I mention they were my most hated life-long archenemy?) that I decided to solve the problem once and for all — the next time I mowed the yard, I gunned the riding mower, aimed at the garden and mowed down every single row of the little tubular green “basterds” in the garden.
And we had a big garden.
Y’know… for a few precious moments there, I was Di Caprio on the bow of the Titanic, “King of the world!” No victory since has tasted that sweet.
And that fall? There was no green bean crop to be harvested and canned. He-he-heee. I showed them.
But I digress and that’s probably TMI. Sorry if so, but it still makes me chuckle.
But in all seriousness, during Round 1 of the HCG Diet I found a way to make taking my daily veggies in a way that didn’t make me gag. And by the time I got to the end of Round 1, I was a dyed in the garden, green-eatin’ fiend.
Is that the very definition of irony, or what?
So, anytime you need to add calories in to make sure you get your daily 500 while on the HCG Diet, you want to go with something high in fiber like more veggies. And you need a fair balance of veggies just to keep yourself balanced. Think of it this way, the more veggies you incorporate, the more weight you lose. I shed off 157 pounds, so I may know what I’m talking about here.
Imagine how funny I find it when people question whether HCG Diet really causes your metabolism and hypothalamus to reset. Heck, it resets your entire appetite mechanism.
My Veggie Solution
So I got a Vita-Mix. And I use it almost every day to blend up my veggies on and off the HCG Diet protocols. On the HCG Diet my fave drink is spinach and an apple. Sweeten it w/some Stevia and it’s practically a dessert drink.
